What we do?

We provide Applied Behaviour Analytic consultancy services for families of children aged two and above with ASD, communication and developmental delays.  At Reach for the Stars we recognise that every child can reach their full potential when given the right teaching strategies and support. Great emphasis is placed on observing your child and catering for their individual needs and interests; developing any areas of deficits within their development (whether it is social, communication, self-help etc…), challenging and supporting them and setting them up for success. We want our service to be an extension of the loving environment you create at home and to empower parents to adopt our Applied Behaviour Analysis methods to further facilitate their child’s development, gaining skills and independence.

In providing the service we will look in particular at the child’s needs and the particular needs and priorities of the family.  During the initial parents’ interview and the intake assessment, we will work with the family to identify what working targets will be most beneficial to meet the family’s needs and goals.    

Subsequent Applied Behaviour Analysis services will involve a comprehensive assessment of your child’s current skills by using the Verbal Behaviour Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VBMAPP) http://www.marksundberg.com/vb-mapp.htm or the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) https://partingtonbehavioranalysts.com/products/ablls-r/ . We will then develop an individualised curriculum focusing on skill acquisition and/or a behaviour reduction programmes such as (but not limited to):

– communication and understanding;

– social skills, creative development and independent play;

– self-help such as toilet training and self feeding;

– sleep issues

– reducing challenging behaviour.

Ongoing collection of data will allow evaluation of the effectiveness of the interventions and will assist in developing any revisions that need to be made to ensure the best outcome. 

The children are provided with a loving and caring environment, rich in carefully planned activities specifically designed to meet their individual development needs. We use a hands-on and proactive approach in our teaching so that children experience the fun in learning in a nurturing environment. 

We aim to work in partnership with parents to provide them with support and to develop their skills so the child can continually develop and attain development goals in a fun and loving way. We also provide parents with ongoing progress reports so they can track the child’s development. 

We also work collaboratively with the child’s occupational therapist and speech and language therapist in order to ensure the child gets the input required for progress in all areas.
